Medical supplies for a survival retreat group. Video
A quick look at some medical supplies for a retreat group. Could be used for a wrol situation or a large wide spread natural disaster. What would a retreat group need and want to stock to maintain some level of medical aid for a group.

Thanks for the ...
Thanks for the visual aids. Most people are unaware of the amount of medical supplies needed if we have a collapse. You can never have ENOUGH medical supplies, bartering will be vital if we face a break down of life as we know it. Dr.Bones and I have learned about natural remedies, just in case. In the 19th century nature WAS the medicine chest. If modern pharmaceuticals are unavailable you should? learn alternative methods for treating medical issues like laceration infections etc... Great points. I ...
Great points. I also carry a roll of Saran wrap in addition to several Ausherman and Halo seals. Tampons and the womans maxi pads are also great for stopping blood flow.
I am also a firm follower of Celox A and QuickClot as hemostatic agents.?
Alternative items I ...
Alternative items I carry in my Medical bag is a roll of saran wrap for sucking chest? wounds, Tampons for punture or bullet holes. Iodine for sterilization, or radiation poisoning. I agree the EMT course is a great course I would also encourage people to volunteer with local fire department and see if they will help you go through the EMT course.
I am? a combat ...
I am? a combat medic in the army and you can use the gauze from a fabric store but it will need to be cleaned and checked for lint particles that come off of it. Yes all medical equipment is more expensive. Alternatives are out there just be very picky and know what you are really getting.
Great information ...
Great information southernprepper1. Thanks for it! I read that the gauze used for bandages can also be had by using the gauze cloth that is sold on bolts in fabric stores and is drastically cheaper than the 4 x 4 pads. I know it isn't sterile, but with things like peroxide and alchohol in our supply, is fabric store gauze a? feasible option as bulk gauze if it is kept in a ziplock gallon bag? What is your opinion on this? Thank you.
People need to ba ...
People need to ba aware that medical supplies like food does have expiration dates and keep track of that stuff. Granted in a WROL situation I'd rather have a laceration stapled with expired staples than not but it's something to keep in mind. My wife is an RN, I was CLS trained in the militay so we? have some abilities in the area. I also sold medical supplies and equipment as well, so we have some good stuff in our kit. I encourage folks to take a CPR class too, good stuff to know.
I southern prepper. ...
I southern prepper. when are we going to see those medical videos. I would love to see some. Just finished my first responder course .? Man I learned a lot .
Coconut water ...
Coconut water serves as a surrogate blood plasma solution, do a search for it, there are many hospitals that use it and journal papers from medical professionals confirming its? adequacy. Now whether or not cans of it would be sterile enough I don't know, fresh definitely works, but if cans are sterile you could buy Canned Coconut water and store it as a dual use item- As a Blood Plasma and as food.

Remember everyone, ...
Remember everyone, alot of major medical service are completely avoidable with proper initial care. How many people end up in the E/R or hospital each day from a small wound or insect bite? that has been allowed to become infected.
People would be surprised to know how many limbs (and lives) could be saved each year around the world with just peroxide and a sterile bandage.
I am currently ...
I am currently stocking up on? quick clot to ensure I have plenty to share. My medical supplies is completely stocked except for 10 -12 more quick-clot. Thanks for sharing SP. Also another thing I added to my medical supplies is a powered protein sold at drug stores that can be added to other foods to get the daily required protein.
Hi, I really ...
Hi, I really enjoyed your video. Your trauma gear is great. Although I am in no way qualified to give any? medical advice or opinion, I would like to ask a few things. Have you considered looking into advanced life support techniques, there are great books out there on it. If medical people with you can cannulate have you considered the use of medical saline water or Hartmanns solution for those with blood loss or shock. Or an automated defibrillator, for those with cardiac arrest.

I simply smashed my finger, didn't break anything. I needed stisches but it was one of those things that if you were careful and attentive you could get by without them. I? was shocked at how much of my supplies I used to treat it!

How about RAW honey ? It's? expensive ... and invaluable !!
Only problem with ...
Only problem with having such vast amounts of medical gear is expiry dates. I wonder whether a hospital would swap your unused bandages that are nearing expiry? with their new ones as they use them faster than you would ever be able to. I have 2 lifeboat first aid kits. They have a 3 year shelf life and can be dropped from 50m without any damage (mylar wrapped) they contain similar stuff to what you have but in smaller amounts. They would be ideal to hand out in an emergency.
Surgical staple ...
Surgical staple kits are a good alternative to sutures and easier to use. If you look around you can find a? staple gun with 36 staples for about $10. Remember to purchase a staple remover too, also cheap.
No where have I've ...
No where have I've seen? a example of just how much. Thank you. This really got me thinking.
